Oklahoma Futurity Headlines First Major Remington Park Stakes Night

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Grade 3, $420,000 Oklahoma Futurity is the main event this Saturday night during the first major multi-stakes race program of the Remington Park American Quarter Horse Season. The well-connected Feature Moonflash is the morning-line favorite at 3-1 odds.

Owned by James Sills of Cedar Hill, Texas and trained by Eddie Willis, Feature Moonflash won his 300-yard trial in rallying fashion to score by a nose on March 12. The third-fastest qualifier in the field of 10, Feature Moonflash will be ridden by Jimmy Brooks.

The top qualifier on the night of 15 trials for the Oklahoma Futurity was KG Johnny B Good. Owned by Reba and Ken George of Caney, Kan., KG Johnny B Good posted a time of :15.491 seconds under jockey Cody Smith, who is up for the final. Trainer Loyd Moreland will saddle the gelding who is 4-1 in the morning-line odds according to Remington Park odds-maker Jerry Shottenkirk.

The Oklahoma Futurity is the 11th of a dozen races on Saturday night with an approximate post time of 10:20pm. The first race of the night is 6pm. All times are Central.

The Oklahoma Futurity program is the first of the season worth more than one-million dollars in purse money. The overall purse total for the 12-race card is $1,032,200.

The 2016 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park continues Thursday thru Saturday, March 24-26, with the Oklahoma Futurity program headlining the week on Saturday night. There will be no live racing on Easter Sunday. The first race nightly is 6pm-Central.
