For Immediate Release - Wednesday, March 23, 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jess Good Candy, the 2015 All American Futurity winner and American Quarter Horse Association Champion 2-year-old, breezed through his first official workout of the year this morning at Remington Park. The 3-year-old colt is preparing for a possible start in April’s $70,000 Mr. Master Bug Stakes.

Owned by PV Quarter Horse Farms of Ratliff City, Okla. and trained by Clint Crawford, regular jockey Ivan Carnero was aboard for the 220-yard breeze. Jess Good Candy handled the effort in :11.59 seconds over a fast track.

“We wanted to get him a little work before a gate work coming up in a couple weeks,” Crawford said of the colt’s schedule. “Ivan was trying to let him cruise but the colt wanted to go. He’s coming back strong. Our goal is the Mr. Master Bug on April 24, then he will go to Ruidoso Downs (N.M.) to race in their derby series this summer.”

Jess Good Candy is an Oklahoma-bred son of Good Reason SA from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Send Candy. Bred by the late Carl Pevehouse, Jess Good Candy is undefeated thru four career starts with total earnings of $1,519,240.
