DISCEPADES Easily Wins Laico Bird Stakes at Remington Park
OKLAHOMA CITY, April 23, 2014 – Dicecapades sprung an upset in the $70,000 Laico Bird Stakes for 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds on Saturday night at Remington Park. She won by three-quarters of a length under jockey James Flores.
Sent off at 8-1 odds, the daughter of Prospect To The Top, out of the Tres Seis mare, Dicey Riley, recorded her second win in as many starts. Bred by J. Garvan Kelly & Nancy Yearsley, Dicecapades is owned by Terry McLean of Claremore, Okla. and trained by Gerry McLean. She earned $41,838 for covering 330 yards in a time of :16.761 seconds over a fast track.
Dicecapades paid $18.40 to win, $10.80 to place and $7 to show. JS Challenger was off at 30-1 odds and paid $25.20 to place and $8.60 to show. Bout Tree Fiddy finished third to pay $3.40 to show. Im Tellin Ya was the 5-2 betting favorite, but only threatened early before weakening to finish fourth.
The Laico Bird is named in honor of the 1967 All American Futurity winner and American Quarter Horse Association World Champion who was trained by Jimmy Jones of Norman, Okla. Jones was on hand to present the trophy to the connections of Dicecapades.

Sunday afternoon Remington Park racing will feature the return to racing for 2015 All American Futurity winner Jess Good Candy in the $70,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes. Also in that race, the winner of the $1,170,000 Heritage Place Futurity in 2015, BV Midnite Express.
The Extreme Race Day for Charity also takes place on Sunday with Clydesdales, Zebras, Ostriches, Miniature Donkeys and Camels all competing on the track in between the regular horse racing program. The first Extreme Race is at 1pm Sunday with the first pari-mutuel horse race at the regular 1:30pm post. All times are Central.
