OKLAHOMA CITY, March 8, 2016 - Jockey Ivan Carnero posted three wins on Mothers’ Day at Remington Park, in successive fashion, opening up his lead atop the rider standings. He is attempting to win his first riding title at Remington Park.

The Carnero natural hat trick came in races seven, eight and nine. The winning run started with Peves Ivory Jack ($5.60 to win), and was his second straight win aboard the 4-year-old gelding for owner Gordon Pevehouse of Warner, Okla.

In race eight, Carnero scored on Going Viral ($5) who also won her second straight race. Owned by Hershel Cole of Sallisaw, Okla. Going Viral, like Peves Ivory Jack in race seven, is trained by Clint Crawford.

Carnero wrapped up his three-win afternoon with Booyah Bay ($15.60) in race nine for owner James Baucom of Andrews, Texas and trainer Harvey Baeza.

The triple by Carnero gives him 42 victories on the season. He is now 10 wins ahead of second-place Agustin Silva.

The conclusion of the racing season on June 4 will be somewhat historic concerning the jockey title at Remington Park. It will mark the first time in 13 years that G.R. Carter was not atop the standings. Carter, the all-time leading jockey in American Quarter Horse, Paint Horse and Appaloosa Horse racing history, retired at the end of 2015.

The 2016 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park will continue Thursday thru Sunday, May 12-15. The programs on Friday and Saturday, May 13 & 14, are all trials for the $1,000,000 Heritage Place Futurity. The program on Sunday, May 15 is dominated by trials for the $350,000 Heritage Place Derby. The finals for the lucrative Heritage Place Futurity and Derby will be held on the final day of the season, June 4.
