BARUE WINS HARD-FOUGHT EASY JETS STAKES
OKLAHOMA CITY – Saturday, June 4, 2016 , Barue fought gamely to the wire to win the $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds on Saturday night at Remington Park. He scored by a nose in a blanket finish over High Speed Kitty.
A 2-year-old colt by Pyc Paint Your Wagon out of the Mr Jess Perry mare First Prize Leesa, Barue was bred by Weetona Stanley and William Smith. Owned by Albert and Sandra Whitmire of Sallisaw, Okla. and trained by Jerry Ingels, Barue was ridden by James Flores.
Off at 10-1 odds, Barue covered the 350 yards in :17.459 seconds and earned $30,000 for the win. He paid $22.20 to win, $9.40 to place and $4.60 to show. High Speed Kitty finished second to pay $6.20 to place and $4 to show. Freal was the 6-5 favorite but was a head back in third, yielding late after an alert start.
The win is the second of the career from six attempts for Barue who has now earned $52,194.
