Fastest Qualifier Country Mans Jazz Returns to Win John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile
CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 9, 2016—Sarah Huskey's Texas-homebred County Mans Jazz returned on Sunday to defeat Corona Suerte by three-quarter in the $47,790 Adequan Will Rogers Derby Challenge. Keyper finished a neck back for third.
The victory also garnered Country Mans Jazz a starting spot in the October 29th Grade 3 $200,000 Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos Race Course. He entered the race with the fastest qualifying time from the September 25th trials.
Ridden by jockey Augstin Silva, County Mans Jazz completed the 400-yard task in :19.667 seconds, a 97-speed index. Conditioned by trainer R.L. Rick Robinson, the son of Bono Jazz earned $21,983 to boost his career mark to nearly $50,000. He is out of the Country Chicks Man mare Country Mans Chick.
Caught late, Rafter R Ranch's Oklahoma homebred Corona Suerte earned $9,558 for second. Chris Rowland trains the Coronas Prospect gelding out of Shakemandzoom, by Shazoom. Daniel Torres was up.
Eddie D. Willis saddled third place finisher Keyper for owner Reliance Ranches, LLC. Jimmy Brooks rode the First Moonflash filly form the Chicks Beduino mare This Chicks Stylish. She picked up $4,779 for the effort.
Flyer Power, My Runaway Cartel, Scouts Pyc Special, Big John Hunt, Sr Rumrunner, Valiant B Doll and Volcoms Dash completed the field.
