HORSE ACTIVITY SET TO RETURN TO REMINGTON PARK

OKLAHOMA CITY – The beginning of February also marks the return of horse activity at Remington Park. The2017 American Quarter Horse Season starts March 10 but in a just a few days, the racetrack and barn area will come alive again as horsemen and horses prepare for live racing.

January is the only month of the calendar year when there are no horses at Remington Park.

Starting on Friday, Feb. 3, trainers and their staff will be admitted to prepare their barns for the season. Then on Monday, Feb. 6, horses will arrive to take up their stall residence for the next four months. Finally, on Tuesday, Feb. 7, morning training will begin as horses will exercise and receive official workout times as they ready for racing.

The initial training races for 2017 will take place starting at 11am on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The 250-yard events are used by trainers to allow young horses, seeking their first pari-mutuel start, the opportunity to go through the race-day process and to prove they are ready for actual racing as judged by Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission stewards and the Remington Park starter.

The 2017 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park will begin on Friday, March 10 and continue thru Saturday, June 3.
