POLITICAL ATTRACTION PUTS WINNING STREAK ON THE LINE IN REMINGTON PARK DERBY

OKLAHOMA CITY -- April 20, 2018 – Top Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds compete over 400 yards Saturday night in the $317,400 Remington Park DerbyPolitical Attraction was the top qualifier in trials held on April 8 and will put his five-race winning streak on the line in the derby final.

Owned by the Claremore, Okla. partnership Rogelio Marquez Jr., and Kathy Robinson, Political Attraction is trained by Amanda Tongay and will be ridden by James Flores. Political Attraction is the morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds for the Remington Park Derby.

A gelded son of Apollitical Jess from the Separatist mare Gunsight Peak, Political Attraction has not lost a race since June 2017, when he finished third in the Easy Jet Stakes at Remington Park. Since that effort, he has won five straight races including the finals of the $214,000 Speedhorse Futurity at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla. and also the 350-yard $283,000 Black Gold Futurity at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. He easily won his Remington Park Derby trial by 1-3/4 lengths. 

Political Attraction is the top earner in the Remington Park Derby field with $281,801 in lifetime money. Cloud Ridge has the most career victories of derby qualifiers with six.

The field for the Remington Park Derby, a restricted Grade 3 race for Oklahoma-breds, by post position and program number order, with trainer, jockey and morning-line odds:

Remington Park racing continues Friday thru Sunday, April 19-22 this week. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday afternoon racing at 1:30pm.

Sunday, April 22 is Extreme Racing Day 2018 at Remington Park as the exotic animals compete throughout the afternoon, in between the regular American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa races. The exhibition races will begin the day at 1pm with the Express Ranch Clydesdales’ Match Race.
