IMA REAL LIVEWIRE POSTS UPSET IN VICTORIA ENNIS MEMORIAL
OKLAHOMA CITY -- April 28, 2018 – Ima Real Livewire used a sharp rally to catch early leader Admiral Tom and go on to win the $22,500 Victoria Ennis Memorial by a neck on Saturday night at Remington Park.
Owned and bred in Oklahoma by Carole Vann Stacy of Warner, Okla., Ima Real Livewire is trained by Michelle Hurdle and was ridden by Jose Vega. After a solid start, racing, Vega asked Ima Real Livewire for more and the 2-year-old gelding responded. Once up to full speed, Ima Real Livewire caught Admiral Tom well before the finish of the 330-yard race for 2-year-old Paints and Appaloosas. He then pulled clear to win by a length in :16.851 over a fast track.
Admiral Tom held second while Son Of A Grip was third in the race for 2-year-old Paints and Appaloosas.
Away at 12-1 odds in the betting, Ima Real Livewire paid $27.80 to win, $8 to place and $4 to show. Admiral Tom was the beaten 4-5 wagering favorite, paying $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show. Son Of A Grip paid $3.20 to show.
Ima Real Livewire’s win in the Victoria Ennis Memorial was his second score from three attempts this season at Remington Park. The winner’s check of $13,050 boosted his career earnings to $24,142. Ima Real Livewire is a Paint gelding by CRM Livewire from the Red Storm Cat (qh) mare Ima Storm Valentine.
The win in the Victoria Ennis Memorial is the first for all of the connections in the race. The Victoria Ennis Memorial is named in honor of the Oklahoman who was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club Hall of Fame and was a prominent breeder and owner for many years before her passing in 2009.
Remington Park racing continues on Sunday afternoon with a 10-race program underway at 1:30pm-Central.
