OKLAHOMA CITY -- April 28, 2018 - As And Js made amends for a bit of a lackluster effort in her last attempt at Remington Park, as she fired her race and showed her mettle in winning the $80,500 Easy Date Stakes on Saturday night.

Owned and trained by Leonardo Alcala of Ft. Myers, Fla., As And Js was ridden by Agustin Silva. A 4-year-old mare, As And Js settled for fourth in the Decketta Stakes against open-company rivals in her last attempt on March 21. Returning to face Oklahoma-bred fillies and mares in the Easy Date, As And Js was away cleanly and quickly engaged Apollitical Scout on the lead. The pair battled throughout the 350 yards with As And Js prevailing by a bobbing-head at the finish. Apollitical Scout maintained second with Mia Kine along for third, 1-1/4 lengths behind the victor.

The heavy choice in the wagering at 2-5 odds, As And Js paid $2.80 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. Apollitical Scout paid $3 to place and $2.80 to show. Mia Kine returned $4.60 to show. The remaining order in the Easy Date was Effortless Chic Desi, HR Chatter Wagon, Dashing Sashay, VF Floosie and Ting Ting Tac.

A daughter of Apollitical Jess from the Tres Seis mare Adolph Tres Knockout, As And Js was bred in Oklahoma by Five Puig Racing, LLC. She picked up her sixth career win from 16 attempts in the Easy Date Stakes and another $46,500 to run her bankroll to $375,404.

The Easy Date Stakes is named after the 1974 All American Futurity winner and 1975 American Quarter Horse World Champion who was bred, owned and trained by Walter Merrick of Sayre, Okla.

Remington Park racing continues on Sunday afternoon with a 10-race program underway at 1:30pm-Central.
