JA BIG BAD GOL WINS SECOND STRAIGHT REMINGTON PARK ALLOWANCE
OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park wrapped up its April racing calendar on Sunday. Among the winners on the 10-race program was JA Big Bad Gol who picked up his second consecutive victory of the season, scoring a $23,650 allowance event.
Owned by Raul Banuelos, Jr. of Wichita, Kan. and trained by Miguel Banuelos, JA Big Bad Gol was ridden by Daniel Torres. The 4-year-old gelding came away well from the start and improved his position throughout the 350-yard event, winning by one length in :17.829 over a fast track. Bird Train was second, a head better then NSM Strong Heart who finished third.
The wagering favorite at 6-5 odds, JA Big Bad Gol paid $4.40 to win, $2.60 to place and $2.20 to show. Bird Train returned $4.60 to place and $3.60 to show. NSM Strong Heart paid $3.60 to show.
JA Big Bad Gol won his second allowance of the season and his third career race from 14 attempts. A Texas-bred son of Gol from the Mr Jess Perry mare JA Free Bird, JA Big Bad Gol earned $12,930 to increase his lifetime bankroll to $87,370.
The 2018 American Quarter Horse, Paint and Appaloosa Season at Remington Park now moves into May, with live action on Thursday thru Sunday, May 3-6. The first race on Thursday and Friday, May 3 & 4 is at 6pm. A special Noon start time is in place for Saturday, May 5 as Remington Park also features the simulcast of the Kentucky Derby from Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. Sunday afternoon racing begins at 1:30pm.
The $100,000 Sooner State Stakes is the featured event next week, on Saturday, May 5 for Oklahoma-breds, 3-years-old and older, going 400 yards.
